The average BMI of a female ballet dancer is apparently 18.56, but you need to bear in mind that BMI does not take into account frame size, (most ballet dancers have very small frames) and is not supposed to be used by athletes or people with a lot of muscle, ballet dancers definately come under that category. So BMI isn't really meant for ballet dancers.

  2. I dance in a semi professional company. In order to be accepted and stay in the compnay you muct have a BMI within the healthy range. The healthy range is between 20-25
    So the average BMI of most of the dancers at my academy is about 20-21.
  3. I remember a nutritionist at a summer program telling us it was 17. A lot of them get away with the lower weight by only eating incredibly healthy food so everything is pure nutrition.
